    Parts of activities: Reply to Fellbaum and Miller (1990).Lance J. Rips & Frederick G. Conrad - 1990 - Psychological Review 97 (4):571-575.
If people believe that one activity is a kind of another, they also tend to believe that the second activity is a part of the first. For example, they assert that deciding is a kind of thinking and that thinking is a part of deciding. C. Fellbaum and G. A. Miller's (see record 1991-03356-001) explanation for this phenomenon is based on the idea that people interpret part of in the domain of verbs as a type of logical entailment. Their (...)

    New Translation of Wissenschaft der Logik.Frederick G. Weiss - 1969 - The Owl of Minerva 1 (1):3-3.

Miller has Just produced a new version of the Science of Logic which is intended to replace that of the American translators Johnston and Struthers issued in 1929. It is clearly a most painstaking piece of work, and. it certainly succeeds in presenting Hegel in an idiom which is intelligible, if not exactly elegant..." The work contains a foreword by J. N. Findlay of Yale University, (...)

    A neurological foundation for peaceful negotiations.Frederick L. Coolidge - 2024 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 47:e6.
Glowacki explored the conditions required for peace and argued its preconditions arose only within the last 100,000 years. The present commentary addresses some major brain changes that occurred only in Homo sapiens within that period of time and the verbal and nonverbal cognitive sequelae of those neurological changes that may have aided the diplomatic negotiations required for peaceful solutions.

    Reason, social practice, and scientific realism.Frederick L. Will - 1981 - Philosophy of Science 48 (1):1-18.
Accompanying the decline of empiricism in the theory of knowledge has been an increased interest in the social determinants of knowledge and an increased recognition of the fundamental place in the constitution of knowledge occupied by accepted cognitive practices. The principal aim of this paper is to show how a view of knowledge that fully recognizes the role of these practices can adequately treat a topic that is widely considered to be an insuperable obstacle to such a view. The topic (...)

From Policies to Principles: The Effects of Campus Climate on Academic Integrity, a Mixed Methods Study.Ryan L. Young, Graham N. S. Miller & Cassie L. Barnhardt - 2018 - Journal of Academic Ethics 16 (1):1-17.
This mixed methods study examines how college students’ perceptions and experiences affect their understanding of academic integrity. Using qualitative and quantitative responses from the Personal and Social Responsibility Institutional Inventory, both quantitative and qualitative results demonstrate that while campuses may see a reduction in overall levels of cheating when punitive academic integrity policies are present, students may develop higher levels of personal and academic integrity through the use of more holistic and community-focused practices.

The Company They Keep: How Formal Associations Impact Business Social Performance.Terry L. Besser & Nancy J. Miller - 2011 - Business Ethics Quarterly 21 (3):503-525.
ABSTRACT:Business networks, which include joint ventures, supply chains, industry and trade associations, industrial districts, and community business associations, are considered the signature organizational form of the global economy. However, little is known about how they affect the social performance of their members. We utilize institutional theory to develop the position that business social performance has collectivist roots that deserve at least as much scholarly attention as owner/manager characteristics and business attributes. Hypotheses are tested using multilevel analysis on data gathered from (...)
